Offseason turnover, it appears, won’t hit Sounders FC’s coaching ranks.
Top assistant Brian Schmetzer had interviewed for the coaching vacancy at FC Dallas, but he will be staying in Seattle, according to a team spokesman. ESPN’s Jeff Carlisle was first to report the news.
Carlisle has done a great job with offseason updates on the coaching carousel during the league’s offseason, and he had reported Sunday that Schmetzer was a finalist for the job in Dallas. It appears things are moving forward in that pursuit.
Keep in mind, there are also coaching vacancies at Real Salt Lake and Chivas USA, not to mention reports have indicated Montreal could be making a change at the position.
Schmetzer had interviewed with the Impact before the team joined MLS, so other possibilities could arise, but for now it looks like the long-time Sounder will be here for another year.
