A timeline of Eddie Johnson’s up-and-down tenure with the Sounders

Eddie Johnson was traded away by Sounders FC on Tuesday, exactly 22 months to the day after being acquired on Feb. 17, 2012 (a deal with Montreal that sent Lamar Neagle and Mike Fucito to the expansion Impact).

In Seattle, Johnson’s highs were very high. The lows were there, as well.

Here is a quick timeline of his very eventful two-year tenure as a Sounder:

March 7, 2012 — Made Sounders debut in CCL game vs. Santos Laguna
April 28, 2012 — Scored first goal in road win at Chicago
May 1, 2012 — Fined by MLS for inappropriate gesture at Chicago
June 27, 2012 — Allegedly struck Jed Zayner after U.S. Open Cup game against San Jose
July 15, 2012 — Named to MLS All-Star Team (had 8 goals in first 16 games)
July 25, 2012 — Scored winning goal in All-Star Game vs. Chelsea
Aug. 6, 2012 — Earned first Player of Week award for goal vs. Galaxy
Sept 8, 2012 — Scored 13th goal of season, setting team record (finished with 14)
Sept. 10, 2012 — Earned second Player of Week award for two-goal game vs. Chivas USA
Oct. 8, 2012 — Returned to U.S. men’s national team after two years out of the picture
Oct. 12, 2012 — Scored twice to spark big qualifying win at Antigua & Barbuda
Nov. 27, 2012 — Named MLS Comeback Player of the Year
Dec. 4, 2012 — Nominated for top pro athlete in Seattle Sports Star of the Year awards
March 12, 2013 — Scored series winner vs. Tigres, making Sounders FC the first MLS team to eliminate a Mexican opponent in CCL
May 20, 2013 — Earned third Player of Week award for two-goal game vs. Dallas
June 11, 2013 — Scored in USMNT’s qualifying win in Seattle
July 29, 2013 — Won Gold Cup with USMNT, joined tournament in progress
Aug. 31, 2013 — Made controversial “Pay me!” goal celebration in Columbus, his second game in a row with the winner
Sept. 10, 2013 — Scored winning goal vs. Mexico to clinch World Cup berth
Oct. 5, 2013 — Scored ninth goal of season, enough to claim team’s Golden Boot again
Oct. 23, 2013 — Held out of practice on a coach’s decision by Sigi Schmid (sounds off on Instagram)
Nov. 7, 2013 — Scored third playoff goal, a team record, in final game
Nov. 13, 2013 — Reported to be shopped around MLS by SI.com
Dec. 17, 2013 — Traded to D.C. United for allocation money
