Mi retorno a Seattle esta mas cerca..
— Mario Martinez M10M (@mariomartinez_7) December 26, 2013
“My return to Seattle is closer…”
That’s the translation of the tweet above from Mario Martinez, who played for the Sounders for a year — netting, of course, one of the biggest goals in franchise history.
The midfielder had joined Seattle on a one-year loan from Real Espana on Aug. 1, 2012, but that loan expired without an extension or transfer over the summer, and the 24-year-old returned to his team in Honduras (and won the league title). Reports have linked him to a possible return ever since.
Martinez has been known to play is loose and fast with his Twitter account, so keep that in mind. I haven’t heard anything yet from the Sounders, as well.
Still, it would be an intriguing addition for a Seattle team that could use an attack-minded midfielder. The move would look to benefit Martinez, as well, who has seen his role reduced with the World Cup-bound Honduran national team since leaving the Sounders.
