A particular move has been expected since, well, Nov. 14.
That is when Sounders FC goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann tweeted he would be back for the 2014 season. Eight weeks later, that has become official.
The team announced Wednesday that the 41-year-old Seattle native has re-signed. Terms were not disclosed per MLS and club policy.
“We are looking forward to having Marcus back in a Sounders FC uniform,” said sporting director Chris Henderson in a news release. “He will continue to add veteran leadership and has proven to be solid between the posts. Marcus has had a fantastic career for club and country and we are proud he will be staying with his hometown team.”
Hahnemann joins a goalkeeping group that already includes Stefan Frei and Josh Ford. I’d think there is a good chance more will be around when preseason starts in a couple weeks.
