Report: Sounders considering trade with Fire, Hurtado and Ianni for Jalil Anibaba

This move is now official.

Update: Chicago Fire Confidential is reporting the same.

Total MLS, citing sources, is reporting that the Sounders are in trade talks with the Chicago Fire over a potential swap of Jhon Kennedy Hurtado and Patrick Ianni for Jalil Anibaba.

The move, according to the report, would be to open up cap space, potentially to acquire rumored target Marco Pappa through the allocation order.

Though, that money could surely be used on many fronts (i.e. Steffen Hagen).

Hurtado and Ianni are two “original” Sounders who have been with the team since opening day in 2009. The center backs made $190,000 and $150,000, respectively, last season after signing new contracts.

Anibaba, you might remember, came to train with Seattle in the summer of 2010 before the college season at North Carolina. He is a right back who can also play center back and made $131,245 last year.
