MLS confirms signing of Marco Pappa, deadline for allocation is 1 p.m. Friday

An MLS spokesperson confirmed Wednesday that the league has indeed signed former Chicago Fire midfielder Marco Pappa, who had tweeted the news more than a week ago.

Pappa will have to go through the allocation order in order to join a team, and Sounders FC holds the No. 1 spot. The deadline for the clubs to acquire him is 1 p.m. Friday.

Here is the full allocation order (with the team that selects Pappa dropping to the bottom):

1. Seattle Sounders FC
2. Toronto FC
3. Columbus Crew
4. FC Dallas
5. D.C. United
6. Vancouver Whitecaps FC
7. Chicago Fire
8. San Jose Earthquakes
9. Montreal Impact
10. Colorado Rapids
11. New England Revolution
12. Chivas USA
13. LA Galaxy
14. New York Red Bulls
15. Houston Dynamo
16. Portland Timbers
17. Real Salt Lake
18. Sporting Kansas City
19. Philadelphia Union (No. 1 spot used Monday on Maurice Edu)

You might remember in a post from Tuesday that the Sounders have reportedly extended an offer to midfielder Erik Friberg, who would also be subject to the allocation order. Could be an interesting couple days.
