Official: Sounders lose out in weighted lottery for Benji Joya
UPDATE: This move is now official.
MLS confirmed there was a weighted lottery Wednesday morning for midfielder Benji Joya, a U.S. youth international who signed with the league on loan from Mexico’s Santos Laguna.
Reporter Tom Marshall reported on Twitter that Joya will be going to Chicago.
Three teams ultimately entered the lottery, and here were the odds:
Chicago Fire: 68 percent
Sounders FC: 29 percent
Real Salt Lake: 3 percent
The winning team will make the formal signing announcement.
