Sigi Schmid: ‘Hopefully we’re able to have another parade in December.’

Sounders FC coach Sigi Schmid opened his conference call Thursday by congratulating the Seahawks for winning the Super Bowl (along with an acknowledging a few of us reporters who caught to cover the historic win).

Schmid was later asked how the Sounders handled Super Bowl Sunday during training camp in Arizona.

“We started off on Saturday by having our own football game,” he said, which you can see here (the “Seahawks” easily beat the “Broncos”).

Schmid went on to note that team had a free day Sunday, so players broke off into groups to watch the game. Some watched in the team hotel. Other watched at a Buffalo Wild Wings.

The coaching staff went to a bar to watch and ended up buying drinks for some Broncos’ fans as consolation for the beating.

“Hopefully we’re able to have another parade in December,” Schmid said.
