Sounders make it two for two in preseason with 2-1 win over Vancouver

Some Sounders FC newcomers took center stage in the team’s preseason game Thursday, a 2-1 win against Cascadia rival Vancouver.

Draft pick Fabio Pereira opened the scoring and trialist Kevin Parsemain, a Martinique international, added the other as Seattle earned its second win in as many preseason games.

Left back Dylan Remick earned an assist for a second straight day (90 minutes total), setting up Parsemain’s goal in the 17th minute. Forward Chad Barrett helped set up the first goal of the day on a scramble in the eighth minute.

Vancouver’s Erik Hurtado scored his team’s goal in the 46th minute, right off the second-half kickoff. Though, interestingly, it appears as though the Whitecaps had also started the first half, so there could be some shenanigans involved.

Marcus Hahnemann played a full 90 in goal for the Sounders.

Next up is Portland at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Here are the highlights:

Here is an interview with coach Sigi Schmid (interview with Remick here):
