The U.S. women’s national team cruised to a 7-0 win against Russia on Saturday, a friendly played in front of 8,857 in Boca Raton, Fla.
In a game the USWNT held a 32-3 advantage in shots, Carli Lloyd and Christen Press each scored twice, and goals were added by Abby Wambach, Heather O’Reilly and Reign FC’s Sydney Leroux.
In other local connections, Seattle’s Stephanie Cox added an assist, and goalkeeper Hope Solo made one save to record the shutout. Megan Rapinoe was the fourth Reign player in as a second-half substitute.
For Wambach, it was her 164th international goal. Leroux has scored five goals in her last four games.
The USWNT is unbeaten in 41 games (35-0-6) and 79 games at home (69-0-10). Coach Tom Sermanni‘s squad plays Russia again Wednesday at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
