Kevin Parsemain, Aaron Kovar score as Sounders reserves beat Coastal Carolina

The Sounders’ reserves played a 60-minute scrimmage Saturday morning against Coastal Carolina University, coming back for a 2-1 win behind goals by trialist Kevin Parsemain and homegrown player Aaron Kovar.

Both goal-scorers for Seattle came off the bench, and Kovar’s winner came with just a couple minutes remaining. Parsemain has three goals this preseason and looks to be in line for a contract, perhaps benefiting from (or even causing) Eriq Zavaleta‘s loan to Chivas USA.

Here was the starting lineup:

GK Marcus Hahnemann; D Leo Gonzalez, D Damion Lowe, D Djimi Traore, D Michael Azira; M Tristan Bowen, M Fabio Pereira, M Gonzalo Pineda, M Sean Okoli; F Chad Barrett, F Cam Weaver

Indications are that Hahnemann will start this season then as the No. 2 goalkeeper, with Stefan Frei apparently set to start the afternoon game against D.C. United. Djimi Traore also has come back from an unspecified minor injury.

Here is an interview with Kovar:
