Sounders vs. Sporting Kansas City, pregame

Welcome back to CenturyLink Field! It’s been awhile, at least you made a stop at practice or a Seahawks game.

Quick note: Due to the NBC Sports Network broadcast, the game will kick off closer to 12:23 p.m.

skc home

Season openers mean starting at home for the Sounders, something they have done all six years in MLS. The team holds a 3-2 record to start the season, having actually lost two of the last three.

The series with Sporting Kansas City, the reigning MLS champion, is a favorable one, though, as Seattle holds a 6-1-1 advantage in league games.

And don’t leave your seat early. The Sounders have scored five goals against SKC in the 90th minute or later — one equalizer and four dramatic winners.

The main injury question for Seattle is left back Leo Gonzalez, who is healthy but not quite 100 percent back from offseason groin surgery. Expect Dylan Remick to start in his place if he’s not ready to go.

I’ll post lineups here when they become available.

Sounders FC lineup: GK Stefan Frei, D DeAndre Yedlin, D Chad Marshall, D Djimi Traore, D Dylan Remick, M Marco Pappa, M Osvaldo Alonso, M Brad Evans, M Lamar Neagle, F Kenny Cooper, F Obafemi Martins

Sounders FC bench: GK Marcus Hahnemann, D Zach Scott, D Jalil Anibaba, M Andy Rose, F/M Clint Dempsey, F/M Sean Okoli, F Chad Barrett
