USWNT finishes seventh at Algarve Cup

Abby Wambach scored twice and Heather O’Reilly added a goal in her 200th international appearance as the U.S. women’s national team salvaged a 3-0 win against North Korea in Wednesday’s seventh-place game in the Algarve Cup.

The USWNT was coming off back-to-back losses and a three-game winless streak, each for the first time since 2001.

Wambach had increased with world-record international goal tally to 167. O’Reilly is the ninth player in team history to reach 200 games.

As opposed to previous games, there wasn’t much Reign FC influence against North Korea as Hope Solo, Sydney Leroux and Stephanie Cox did not play. Megan Rapinoe, however, went a full 90. The group is expected to return to Seattle for training camp.
