Marco Pappa accepts the blame for Toronto’s second goal

Sounders FC midfielder Marco Pappa probably could have sneaked out of the locker room Saturday after playing a key role in Toronto’s second goal.

Pappa played an errant back-pass that was intercepted by TFC forward Jermain Defoe en route to his second goal, which proved to be the winner.

“I think we have to deal with our mistakes in life, in professional football” Pappa said. “It was a big mistake, for sure, to give the ball back. It can happen. We’re human. We make mistakes.

“We have to look forward and see some positive things. We had good moments also with the ball and I think we played a good game. We tried to play some good football. For sure we look forward to next game and that’s it.”

Pappa added: “I have to say thanks to the guys. They gave me great support afterward.”
