Practice ran a bit late as the Sounders returned to work Monday, but here a a few quick injury updates ahead of this weekend’s road game at Montreal:
* * *
— First off, here is an update from coach Sigi Schmid on Brad Evans after the midfielder was forced out of Saturday’s game with a bruised calf: “It’s better today than it was yesterday, so we’ll have to see. If it can improve at the same steady pace, then we’ve got a possibility for this weekend. If not, he could be out.”
— Schmid mentioned as guys like Andy Rose and Michael Azira as options to start in Evans’ place if he were to be out. Gonzalo Pineda, who replaced Evans on Saturday, is another possibility, but Schmid mentioned that he is just 45-55 minutes fit right now.
— Osvaldo Alonso wasn’t active with the group Monday, but Schmid indicated he is OK: “We just wanted him on the bike today, not running.”
— Two guys who weren’t available against Toronto but getting closer to their first action of the season are Leo Gonzalez (groin) and Tristan Bowen quad. “Leo we’ve got to talk to this week,” Schmid said. “I think he’s very close. Tristan should be in a full week of practice this week, so we’ll see where he’s at, as well.”
