Ex-Sounder Andrew Weber in line to start against Seattle in April 5 game at Portland

The MLS Disciplinary Committee has suspended Portland goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts an extra game following his red-card tackle on Colorado’s Deshorn Brown over the weekend.

Ricketts, who also might have injured his knee on the play, was already set to miss Saturday’s road game at FC Dallas. The ban was doubled to include an April 5 home game against Sounders FC for “serious foul play that endangers the safety of an opponent,” a play that you can see here.

Ricketts, the reigning MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, was also fined an undisclosed amount.

So who is the Timbers’ backup?

Well, none other than Andrew Weber, who has been with the Sounders for two stints the past couple years. Should provide a unique storyline to the latest chapter in the rivalry, which also sees Steve Zakuani on the other side for the first time.
