To clarify a little bit on Evans, coach Sigi Schmid all but ruled the midfielder out after Thursday’s practice. “We’re bringing him along slowly,” said Schmid, “so his chances of playing, I think, are very small.”

That would be three games out for Evans, while Rose is hoping to avoid missing his second in a row.

For the Timbers, a lot of attention will be on those attacking midfielders, particularly as the depth is already being tested as Wallace recovers. Portland coach Caleb Porter said the team was prepared this week to be without Nagbe, so he might seem most unlikely. Zakuani, the ex-Sounder, had been deemed day-to-day.

As a reminder, Seattle’s Djimi Traore and Portland’s Ricketts are also suspended Saturday. Timbers defender Michael Harrington was going to be suspended but had his red card rescinded and will be eligible.
