Was Portland lucky to avoid two red cards in Saturday’s game against the Sounders?

The latest episode from MLSsoccer.com’s Instant Replay is out, and host Simon Borg focused on a couple plays in the Sounders-Timbers game where the hosts might have been lucky to avoid a red card. The footage starts at the 5:30 mark of the video below and Seattle’s Gonzalo Pineda was the recipient of both incidents.

The first came in the 33rd minute on a slide tackle by Pa Modou Kah (who might’ve been lucky to be eligible after a dangerous tackle last week) and the second was in stoppage time on a wayward elbow by Frederic Piquionne.

Borg also had no issue with the PK awarded to the Sounders, or with comments from DeAndre Yedlin afterward saying he was looking for contact.

What do you think?
