Reign FC’s Sydney Leroux scores in USWNT’s 3-0 win against China

Reign FC’s group of U.S. women’s national team players had one last assignment before returning home ahead of Sunday’s NWSL opener at home against Boston — that came in Thursday’s friendly against China, which, a couple days after U.S. coach Tom Sermanni was fired, resulted in a 3-0 win in San Diego.

Seattle forward Sydney Leroux scored the third goal, set up by club teammate Megan Rapinoe in the 46th minute, and local product Hope Solo earned the shutout in goal. Carli Lloyd had scored the first two for the U.S.

All three Reign internationals look to be in line to play Sunday.

Here are some quick notes: Solo made her 150th international appearance (the 18th American woman to reach that milestone) and earned her 70th shutout, one shy of the federation record. Leroux made her 50th international appearance and scored her 29th goal for the U.S.

The team is 6-0-2 all-time under interim coach Jill Ellis.
