Sounders win despite conceding first goal, trailing at halftime (game notes)

Clint Dempsey garnered a lot of the headlines in Saturday’s come-from-behind win against FC Dallas, but the win was notable of some team fronts, as well.

The Sounders had lost their last nine games when trailing at halftime, dating to June 8, 2013, a 3-2 home win against Vancouver after being down 2-1 at the break. Seattle had also lost its last seven games when conceding the game’s first goal, dating to Sept. 7, 2013, a 2-1 home win against Chicago.

Here are some other game notes:

— The Sounders improved to 2-0-1 on the road this season.
— The Sounders improved to 7-2-4 vs. Dallas, 3-1-3 on the road.
— The Sounders are on pace to be fouled 668 times (the team record is 438, set in 2012).
— The Sounders have received eight straight own goals since conceding their last in 2011.
— The Sounders haven’t lost in April since 2010, a 7-0-5 run.
— The Sounders have scored in their first six games of the season for the first time.
— The eight yellow cards matched a record for any Sounders’ MLS game.
— Clint Dempsey is the first in team history to score five goals in two games.
— Clint Dempsey has had a goal or assist in his last five regular-season games (recording seven goals and one assists in that span).
— Clint Dempsey’s six goals are most in MLS this season.
— Obafemi Martins had his run end at four straight games with either a goal or assist, tied for longest in MLS this season.
— Obafemi Martins run of two straight games with an assist came one game short of tying the team record.
— Kenny Cooper had his scoring streak end at two games, three when you include assists.
— Stefan Frei’s six saves were a season high; his 21 saves are now third-most in franchise history.
— FC Dallas suffered its first loss of the season.
— FC Dallas was seeking its first four-game winning streak since 2009.
— FC Dallas had been 3-0-1 at home.
— FC Dallas still has the top-scoring offense at 15 goals.
— Adam Moffat played against his former team as a second-half sub.
