My MLS power rankings: Week 8

Here are some other MLS power rankings from ESPN.com, SI.com, MLSsoccer.com and Soccer America. Most outlets have the Sounders No. 1 after three straight wins, and you’ll see the same below:

*     *     *

Rank Team Comment
(5) Sounders FC Quickly becoming, if not already, the most feared offense in MLS: 13 goals in four games.
(1) Real Salt Lake Remains the league’s lone unbeaten, but disappointingly coughed up two points at home.
(2) FC Dallas Tied for the best record in MLS with 16 points but also the most goals conceded with 14.
(3) Sporting K.C. Fans leaguewide will be stunned to hear Aurelien Collin’s red card was his first since 2011.
(4) L.A. Galaxy Somehow has played five games while others are at nine: got to love MLS scheduling.
(8) Columbus Have to see it to believe it: Dominic Oduro had a slice of pizza designed into his hair.
(7) Toronto FC Bye came at a good time as Michael Bradley used the break to get a needed foot procedure
(6) Colorado Silver lining to the humbling in Seattle was homegrown Dillon Serna scoring his first goal.
(11) D.C. United Fabian Espindola was huge in a eye-catching 4-1 win vs. Dallas with two goals, assist.
(9) Vancouver Didn’t show much for 85 minutes at RSL, but brought the fireworks in a stunning finish.
(12) New England On a nice 3-1-1 run heading to Toronto, where it has gone 0-2-5 all-time at BMO Field.
(13) N.Y. Red Bulls Bradley Wright-Phillips stole some of Clint Dempsey’s spotlight with four goals last week.
(10) Houston No team has been worse on the road, having lost three of four and been outscored 8-1.
(15) Chicago Bye week should have involved some PK practice after two crucial misses this season.
(14) Philadelphia Heads to Seattle on a woeful seven-game winless streak, one short of a franchise record.
(18) San Jose Newcomer Yannick Djalo from Portugal opened his account with game winner vs. Chivas.
(19) Montreal Marco Di Vaio has been caught offside an MLS-most 14 times, even missing three weeks.
(16) Chivas USA New team, same behavior: ex-Sounder Mauro Rosales has already been fouled 24 times.
(17) Portland Officially panic time? Just about. An upcoming three-game homestand looms very large.
