Brad Evans blasts Dallas forward Blas Perez after PK call: ‘That’s how he plays.’

Sounders FC coach Sigi Schmid, in his postgame interview, declined to comment on the penalty kick awarded to FC Dallas in Wednesday’s game. Schmid claimed he hadn’t seen a replay of the call from referee Baldomero Toledo but noted he had talked to Brad Evans, the player whistled for the foul on Dallas forward Blas Perez.

“He (felt) he hardly even touched him,” Schmid said of the conversation with Evans.

Evans was a bit more pointed in his comments after the game.

“I’m looking at the ball the whole time,” he said. “It was Blas Perez, pretty standard. That’s what he’s looking for. No intention of fouling him in any way. I had my hands completely out of the way the whole time, I think.

“I think once he felt foot on foot if he’s kicking back, I don’t know… Then he just falls like a sack of (crap) on the ground. That’s pretty typical of him. That’s how he plays. I don’t expect anything else. I should’ve known better, though, just to kind of stay out of his way and let him try to bring the ball down, I guess. But no intention to foul there.”

The play in question can be seen at the 0:40 mark in the video below:
