Kim Little scores late winner as Reign beats rival Portland (video highlights)

Turns out first place isn’t the only thing Reign FC shared with its MLS counterpart, Sounders FC.

Both teams have also shown a penchant for late drama as the Reign’s 1-0 road win Saturday at rival Portland featured a thrilling 89th-minute winner from star midfielder Kim Little, her league-leading fifth goal of the season. Be sure to check out the video highlights below.

Seattle (6-0) is the first team in National Women’s Soccer League two-year history to win six games in a row. The Reign is 10 points clear of second place and has already matched its point total from last season.

Goalkeeper Hope Solo recorded her fourth shutout and boasts a league-best 0.33 goals-against average. Seattle has still only trailed two minutes all year.

There was a high-profile guest in attendance in Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson (plus teammate Robert Turbin).

Portland, the defending National Women’s Soccer League champion, suffered it’s first loss of the season, falling to 2-1-2. The Thorns hadn’t lost in the head-to-head rivalry until Saturday.

There was some added entertainment after the game in a Twitter back-and-forth involving Seattle forward Sydney Leroux and Portland owner Merritt Paulson (also the owner of the Timbers).
