Sounders FC reserve goalkeeper Josh Ford has been loaned out to the Orange County Blues FC of the third-tier USL PRO.
Ford earned the shutout in the team’s 1-0 win Saturday against Energy FC and also had the game-winning assist on Gibson Bardsley‘s 90th-minute winner (here is the highlight of the goal). The performance earned the Sounder honorable mention in the USL PRO Team of the Week.
The Sounders haven’t distributed anything regarding the loan, but here is a note from the Blues’ release last week:
Goalkeeper Josh Ford joins the Blues on loan from the Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer (MLS). The New York native holds a University of Connecticut (2006-2010) career record in shutouts. Ford started in MLS reserves in 2011 and since then has suffered two major injuries. Ford is looking forward to advancing his career along with the rest of the Blues.
The Blues have a second-round U.S. Open Cup game Wednesday and then play the Sounders FC reserves Sunday.
