Potential fourth-round pairing for the U.S. Open Cup were released by U.S. Soccer on Friday, and Sounders FC will enter the tournament either on the road against the Los Angeles Galaxy II (the MLS franchise’s USL PRO team) or at home against PSA Elite (an amateur team in the United States Adult Soccer Association).
Details of the fourth game, like a date and time or to be determined. Here is a note from the news release:
The fourth round will take place June 10-18, leaving the possibility for a number of early-round weekend games, a first in the modern era of the tournament (1995 to present). Home teams will determine the exact dates from among the visiting teams’ available dates. The exact schedule will be announced next week.
In the third round, the LA Galaxy II will host PSA Elite on May 28 at 7:30 p.m.
It certainly looks to be a better draw for the Sounders than going to Tampa Bay (like Seattle did last year), but the Galaxy’s USL PRO team probably has a deeper collection of talent than most lower-league teams.
Any thoughts on the draw?
