Sounders FC reserves lose first game

Update: Bowen tweeted Monday that he suffered a concussion.

Sounders FC’s reserves lost their first game of the MLS Reserve League season, suffering a 1-0 home loss to the LA Galaxy II of the USL PRO. But more concerning was seeing Andy Rose, Tristan Bowen and Dylan Remick having to leave the game hurt.

Bowen looked to hit his head on the turf in the 11th minute. Rose was a concerning non-contact injury as he slid for a ball around the 33rd minute, perhaps a left knee concern. Remick limped off in the final minutes due to something that happened behind the play.

The Sounders aren’t back in action to Tuesday, so we’ll likely have to wait until then to get updates.

Chandler Hoffman scored the game’s lone goal in the 76th minute, knocking an Aleks Dokovic cross past goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann, who made four saves.

The Sounders reserves (2-1-2) were out-shot 12-7. The team’s next reserve game isn’t until Sept. 13, but coach Ezra Hendrickson noted in a postgame interview that the team will try to set up scrimmages, perhaps with academy teams of the U-23s.
