Sounders FC has loaned reserve goalkeeper Josh Ford on a short-term basis to the Orange County Blues of the third-tier USL PRO.
Ford will play three games on loan — vs. Dayton Dutch Lions (Saturday), at Orlando City SC (Wednesday), at Charlotte Eagles (June 13) — and return to Seattle on June 14, when the Sounders return to practice after a week off.
The 26 year old was loaned to the OC Blues earlier this season, playing one game. It was a pretty impressive game, though, as he earned a shutout and had the game-winning assist in a 1-0 win against the Oklahoma City Energy on May 10.
Here is some background on Ford from the news release:
Originally drafted 11th overall in the 2011 MLS Supplemental Draft after a record-setting career at the University of Connecticut, Ford has yet to make a competitive appearance for Sounders FC. The fourth-year pro has appeared in 10 career MLS Reserve League matches, including three this season.
