The MLS Disciplinary Committee has issued several fines to Sounders FC and the Chicago Fire after Saturday’s game at Toyota Park, one that was seemingly out of control from the beginning.
Here is the rundown (all the fines issued with undisclosed amounts):
* * *
— The Sounders and coach Sigi Schmid have been fined for instances of mass confrontation (there were two in the game). The fines are due to this being the team’s second game in violation of the mass confrontation policy; the first came in Vancouver.
— Chicago was warned for the mass confrontation. This was the team’s first violation, so there was no fine.
— Chicago midfielder Benji Joya and defender Gonzalo Segares were fined for instigating and escalating the first incident of mass confrontation in the seventh minute. Video here.
— Seattle forward Obafemi Martins has been fined for not leaving the field in an orderly manner after being issued a red card. Video here.
— Chicago defender Jhon Kennedy Hurtado has also been fined for not leaving the field in an orderly manner after being issued a red card. Video here.
— Chicago midfielder Jeff Larentowicz has been fined for his hands to face/head of Seattle’s Gonzalo Pineda in stoppage time. Video here.
