Some quick injury/return notes before the Sounders-Timbers match, set to start at 7 p.m. at CenturyLink Field:
-Obafemi Martins, who has been nursing a hamstring injury over the past week, is expected to make his return, according to Sounders coach Sigi Schmid. He’s been practicing this week.
-Speaking of hamstrings, Marcus Hahnemann is dealing with a tweaked one of his own, and will not play tonight. Josh Ford will be Stefan Frei’s backup goalkeeper.
-DeAndre Yedlin, who came out of Wednesday’s match against Portland at the end of regulation, is fine after suffering cramps that night. He joked that it was because he had turned 21 that day and his legs were getting old. He is also expected to play a large role in Sunday’s match.
-Clint Dempsey’s nose is back to normal again, albeit a little more crooked. He broke it in the World Cup group stages, but is fine now. Schmid quipped that Dempsey wouldn’t need surgery unless he was planning a career as a movie star. Today will be Dempsey’s first match back since returning from World Cup duty, extra time with his family and an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman. He returned to practice on Friday and said that his fitness level was fine after taking about a week off from soccer.
-Not injury-related, but if you don’t have a ticket for today’s match, it will be televised on ESPN2.
-UPDATE: Brad Evans is not listed on the game day roster and won’t play because of a “sore knee,” according to the Sounders. Leo Gonzalez is also not on the roster for undisclosed reasons.
