Talk about hitting the ground running. On my first day as The Seattle Times’ new Sounders FC beat writer, and I get to cover a showdown of Western Conference contenders that could double as Sigi Schmid’s MLS-best 200th career coaching win.
In the two weeks since I accepted the job and moved to Seattle, I’ve already missed a Sounders-Timbers match and the Reign’s 5-0 takedown of the defending champion Thorns. I can’t wait to get started.
My goal is to keep pace with this endless news cycle, providing the type of immersive coverage a passionate group of supporters demands and deserves.
Our blog will feature weekly Sounders chats on Fridays and a broader focus that encompasses MLS as well as some of the other major international leagues. Still, the focus will be on the Sounders. Day-after reports will add another element to your match experience and profiles will provide an opportunity to better know your hometown club.Leave any tips on what else you’d like to see — from what you liked in the past to what can improve upon for the future — down in the comments section or by emailing me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I’ll see you at CenturyLink Field Monday night.
