David Estrada traded to D.C. United

Sounders FC attacker David Estrada has been traded to D.C. United for a third-round pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft, the club announced Thursday.

Estrada has been with the club since 2010, when he was drafted with the 11th pick in the draft, but spent long stretches on loan – including two stints with the Charlotte Eagles of USL-Pro and one with the NASL’s Atlanta Silverbacks this season alone.

The 26-year-old scored five goals during his five seasons with the Sounders, making 18 starts and 41 appearances, though just one came this year.

“David has been a fantastic member of our organization, both on and off the field, for the past five years,” Sounders owner and general manager Adrian Hanauer said in the club release. “He has made great contributions to the team’s performance and has been very involved in the community.
“We wish David the very best at D.C. United.”
