Laura Harvey of Seattle Reign FC has been named the National Women’s Soccer League coach of the year in a vote of journalists, team officials and players, the league announced Wednesday.
“This is a reflection of this team’s hard work. Both from a player’s perspective and back room staff,” said Harvey in a release. “I’m just happy the club’s hard work has got us to this point.”
Harvey’s Reign established new NWSL single-season marks for points (54), wins (16), goal difference (+30), goals scored (50) and goals against average (0.83) on their way to claiming the best regular-season record.
Her team will also host the NWSL championship match Sunday at Starfire Sports Complex against FC Kansas City, with kickoff slated for noon.
