The Sounders will celebrate their 40th anniversary on Oct. 10, when they welcome rival Vancouver to CenturyLink Field.
We’re starting the history lesson a few weeks early, beginning with my feature on F.C. Seattle, the semi-professional club that filled the gap between the dissolution of the North American Soccer League in 1984 and the rebirth of the Sounders a decade later.
Frank MacDonald, a local soccer historian and a former communication director for all three clubs, contacted their coaches to put together best-XI sides from each era for the Seattle Times.
His series began with the NASL Sounders today, will continue with F.C. Seattle on Thursday and conclude with USL Sounders Friday.
UPDATE: The all-era F.C. Seattle team is live.
Check back all week for updates.
