Sounders FC vs. L.A. Galaxy, pre-match notes and lineups

Here are some notable notes ahead of this evening’s Sounders-Galaxy tilt at the StubHub Center:

  • With a win, Seattle clinches its first-ever Supporters’ Shield title. With an L.A. win or a draw, the Shield will come down to next Saturday’s rematch at CenturyLink Field.
  • Ismail Elfath is the match referee, George Gansner and Corey Rockwell are his assistants and Kevin Stott is the fourth official.
  • Sounders midfielder¬†Brad Evans will pick up a suspension with his next yellow card, as will Galaxy defender¬†A.J. DeLaGarza.
  • The Galaxy lead the all-time series 6-3-4 and won the last meeting 3-0 in Seattle back in late July.
  • The Sounders have already set the club single-season record with 19 wins. With another, they will join the 1998 Galaxy as the only MLS teams to ever hit 20.
  • Since the beginning of August, L.A. has amassed a 9-2-4 record. Seattle has gone 7-5-1 over the same stretch.

And here are the lineups for both teams, with Gonzalo Pineda returning to the starting XI for the first time since Sept. 12 and Brad Evans — somewhat surprisingly — slotting into Marco Pappa’s usual spot on the flank:

Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
