Sounders sign Victor Mansaray to a homegrown player contract

The Sounders have signed forward Victor Mansaray to a homegrown player contract, the club announced in a release Wednesday, and he will be added to the team roster on January 1, 2015.

“I think the time was right for me to take the next step going forward and it’s a dream come true for me to sign with Sounders FC,” Mansaray said in the release.

The 17-year-old Mansaray, who was born in Sierra Leone and grew up in Fife, is the fourth homegrown player signing in club history, following in the footsteps of DeAndre Yedlin, Sean Okoli and Aaron Kovar. Mansaray has played for the U-18 United States national team and scored four goals in eight matches with the Sounders U-18s this season.
