FC Tacoma 253 is set to become the newest member of the National Premier Soccer League, the league will announce on Friday.
The club, which will hold open tryouts on Nov. 15 from 2-4 p.m. at Truman Middle School, will begin play in the NPSL next season. FC Tacoma 253 will play in the Northwest Conference of the NPSL, which operates in the fourth tier of the U.S. Soccer pyramid and whose teams are eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup.
FC Tacoma 253 is owned by Giuseppe Pezzano, who formerly owned Fiesole Caldine of the Italian Serie D. Pezzano represents Serie A side Fiorentina in the U.S., and technical director Vincenzo Vergine is Fiorentina’s youth scouting director.
“We bring an exclusive and unique method of soccer development, the very first Italian influence in the region,” Pezzano said in the release. “With our direct collaboration with Vincenzo Vergine of ACF Fiorentina, we expect to bring something new, innovative and international to both the NPSL and the region.”
