Chad Marshall, Obafemi Martins named to MLS Best XI

Seattle defender Chad Marshall and forward Obafemi Martins have been named to the MLS Best XI as voted by the league’s players, club officials and coaches.

Others included on the team, which was released Tuesday, were goalkeeper Bill Hamid (D.C. United); defenders Marshall, Bobby Boswell (D.C. United) and Omar Gonzalez (L.A. Galaxy); midfielders Diego Valeri (Portland Timbers), Lee Nguyen (New England Revolution), Thierry Henry (New York Red Bulls and Landon Donovan (L.A.); and forwards Martins, Robbie Keane (L.A.) and Bradley Wright-Phillips (New York).

Marshall has already been named the MLS defender of the year, while Martins is a finalist for league MVP, which will be announced Wednesday at 2 p.m. PST.
