Obafemi Martins’ early-season chip wins MLS Goal of the Year

Seattle forward Obafemi Martins’ early-season chip against San Jose has won Major League Soccer’s 2014 Goal of the Year award following a fan vote.

Martins’ goal, in which he chips Earthquake ‘keeper Jon Busch and into the far corner of the net, also won the league’s Goal of the Week award back in week 11.

Martins is the second Sounder to ever win the award — Patrick Ianni won back in 2012.

The full release from the league can be found here.
