The Major League Soccer season may be over, but this sport never sleeps. Here are some options for filling the void this weekend:
Manchester United vs. Liverpool, English Premier League, Sunday at 5:30 a.m.
The two most historically successful clubs in English soccer go head-to-head, though the stakes are considerably less lofty this time around – each would consider this campaign a success if it finishes in the UEFA Champions League spots.
Bayer Leverkusen vs. Borussia Monchengladbach, Sunday at 6:30 a.m.
The visitors – AKA Fightin’ Fabian Johnsons – have cooled considerably after a hot start. They’re even with Leverkusen on points with 23, one back of third-place FC Augsburg and the final automatic Champions League berth.
A.C. Milan vs. Napoli, Italian Serie A, Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
It has been a down couple of years at the San Siro, and Napoli also hasn’t yet hit the heights of recent seasons. But both sides are still stocked with talent, so miss this one at your own peril.
Real Sociedad vs. Athletic Bilbao, Spanish Primera, Sunday at 12 p.m.
This rivalry match brings together the two biggest clubs in both Basque Country and the city of Bilbao. Athletic holds the all-time edge in this uncommonly even series 56-33-45 as well as a four-spot lead in the standings.
Club America vs. U.A.N.L., Mexican Liga MX final Leg 2, Sunday at 4 p.m.
U.A.N.L. heads across Mexico City to visit its old rivals with a 1-0 aggregate lead in tow and the Mexican title on the line.
