Well that’s one way to shake up what had been a slow few news days.
Real Salt Lake general manager Garth Lagerwey, one of the most respected front office members in Major League Soccer, is heading to Seattle, according to reports from both ESPN analyst Taylor Twellman and Sports Illustrated’s Brian Straus late Monday.

SI has confirmed @TaylorTwellman's report of Lagerwey leaving RSL for Seattle (not that we don't trust TT. In TT we trust). More to come….

Adrian Hanauer had filled the role of both Sounders owner and general manager since the split from the team’s split from the Seahawks this past offseason, and Lagerwey could help lighten the load by taking on the latter role.
Lagerwey has been with Real Salt Lake as the team’s vice president and general manager since 2007, helping lead the club to the 2009 MLS Cup title and four of the last six MLS Conference Championships.
The Sounders had no comment on the rumors.
More on this to follow.
