Jeff Plush has been named the second commissioner of the National Women’s Soccer League, the NWSL announced Tuesday, replacing the departed Cheryl Bailey.
Prior to joining the NWSL, Plush was managing partner of Helium Sports Group, a sports consultancy group. Previously, Plush was managing director of Major League Soccer’s Colorado Rapids from 2006 through 2011. Plush also served on the Board of Governors of Major League Soccer and Soccer United Marketing, while also serving on the Board of Directors for the global media business of Arsenal of the English Premier League.
“In my discussions with Jeff it was clear his experience and expertise made him the perfect leader for the NWSL,” said Seattle Reign FC owner Bill Predmore in a release. “I believe Jeff will help us achieve our vision of making the NWSL one of the strongest women’s soccer leagues in the world. And while I am thrilled that Jeff will be leading the league, I also must thank Cheryl Bailey for her efforts over the past two years. Cheryl played a key role in creating a stable foundation for the league, putting the NWSL in a great position for continued growth in the future.”
The NWSL kicks off its third season in April.
