Former Sounder Steve Zakuani to host a book signing in Seattle this Saturday

Former Sounder Steve Zakuani’s new book, 500 Days, is now on sale, and Seattle’s first-ever MLS SuperDraft pick will host a book signing at the team’s downtown pro shop this weekend.

The book tells the story of Zakuani’s year-and-a-half recovery from a double-leg break suffered during his third season in the leg. He eventually returned to the Sounders lineup, but retired this past offseason following an interim season with Portland.

Zakuani finished his career with 17 goals and 17 assists in 97 appearances from 2009-14. He is tied for fifth in Sounders FC history in goals and sixth in assists, and was tied for the team-lead in 2010 with 10 strikes to his name.

The book signing will take place at the pro shop Saturday at noon. Seattle coach Sigi Schmid wrote the foreword.

More on this to follow.
