Sounders sign Colombian left back Andrés Correa

The Sounders have signed 21-year-old left back Andrés Correa, the club announced Tuesday, though, per club and league policies, the exact terms were not disclosed.

Correa, from Envigado, Colombia, has spent most of his young career with Independiente Medellin but was most recently on loan with Fortaleza. Independiente has previously produced such notable prospects as FC Porto forward Jackson Martínez and recent Chelsea signing Juan Cuadrado.

Correa was also on the U-20 Colombian national team that won the 2013 South American Youth Football Championship in Argentina, one that defeated Ecuador, Paraguay and Uruguay along the way.

Correa has a reputation as an attacking outside back with the speed to push forward and aid in the attack. His YouTube highlight reel can be found here.

More on this to follow.
