Lamar Neagle, Clint Dempsey and Kevin Parsemain all struck twice as the Sounders topped host FC Tucson 6-0 in their opening game of the 2015 Desert Diamond Cup on Wednesday night.
Neagle opened the scoring just four minutes in, and Dempsey doubled the lead seven minutes later. Neagle notched his second on the 27-minute mark, while Dempsey set the halftime score at 4-0 just before the break.
“We wanted to start the game off quickly, which we did,” Seattle coach Sigi Schmid said. “That established the rhythm of the game for us.”
Parsemain scored twice in the final three minutes of regular time on a pair of feeds from Chad Barrett.
Seattle continues play in the Desert Diamond Cup on Saturday against Sporting Kansas City.
