Kenny Chesney, who performs Saturday at CenturyLink Field, was invited by Seahawks coach Pete Carroll to join the team at its Friday practice.
“I met Pete a couple of years ago at the Tacoma Dome,” Chesney said in a statement. “We kept in touch and when we were coming (to Seattle), he asked me if I’d like to work out with the team. I didn’t have to think about it. The answer was yes.”
Chesney, who played football while growing up in Luttrell, Tenn., reported for practice at Virginia Mason Athletic Facility in Renton for a few hours of offensive drills. (That’s Chesney in the bright-green tank top, without a hat.)
“To feel the intensity of an NFL training camp and to be out there running those drills, you get a real sense of how much focus and heart goes into preparing to do what they do all season,” Chesney said. “Sports is such a big part of my life. It’s a huge rush to be out on the field with such world-class athletes.”
