Looking for a last-minute Independence Day plan?
If the typical beer and barbecue Fourth of July celebration doesn’t appeal to you this year and you’re looking to hear some music, consider hitting up Olympia’s Funk the 4th! 2013 on Steamboat Island. The family-friendly music festival features six bands, five DJs, food and drink and multiple vendors.
Bands playing include High Ceiling, Pine Hearts, Kendl Winter and the Summer Gold, Tilted Stilts, The Oly Mountain Boys, and Scuff and Al. DJs spinning include 2CBEATZ, Skyline Selector, Alex Bosi, Chris Paro and Tastemakers. Admission is free or you can donate $20 and food and drink is included.
Visit the event’s Facebook page for more details, including links to band and DJ pages. If seeing fireworks is a priority, apparently there will be professional shows visible from Funk the 4th! but personal fireworks are not allowed on site. Illegal drugs will also not be tolerated. Decide for yourself whether that includes marijuana.
