American folk legend Pete Seeger has died at age 94 of natural causes. Seeger has been an icon in the folk music scene since the 1940s, but it was in the 1960s that Seeger cemented his status in music history with his political activism and place in ’60s counterculture.
Seeger might be best known for a trio of songs: “Where Have All The Flowers Gone?” “If I Had A Hammer (The Hammer Song)” and “Turn, Turn, Turn!” Of course, those three songs barely scratch the surface of a recording career that spanned eight decades.
There are already dozens of obits pouring in from all corners of the web, and instead of eulogizing Seeger here, we’ll link to some of the best from the web.
Reading about Seeger tells the story of his life, but what gave that life meaning was his music. So enjoy another classic Seeger tune before clicking away.
