Eckstein NGJF pic
Student jazz players from Eckstein Middle School, Seattle’s “feeder” school for the fabled Roosevelt High School Jazz Band, were recognized last weekend in California at the Next Generation Jazz Festival, an educational program of the Monterey Jazz Festival. The students are under the baton of Moc Escobedo.

Outstanding soloist awards went to Elliot Halpern, tenor saxophone and Sean Bowman, clarinet. Outstanding section awards went to the jazz band’s saxophone, trombone and rhythm sections.
