Eckstein Middle School jazz kids hit Reno jackpot

Seattle’s Eckstein Middle School Band

Those Seattle jazz kids did it again at the Reno Jazz Festival this past Thursday-Saturday, April 10-12, with Eckstein Middle School sweeping the major categories and picking up multiple individual awards. The Eckstein outfit is conducted by Cuauhtemoc “Moc” Escobedo.

Here are the Seattle-area winners:

Middle School Choir: Eckstein
Middle School Combo: Eckstein
Middle School Band: Eckstein
“A” High School Choir: Seattle Academy of the Arts and Sciences
Middle School Vocalist: Gabriella Green, Eckstein
Middle School Saxophonist: Elliot Halpein, Eckstein
Middle School Trombonist: Devin Harris, Washington Middle School
Middle School Rhythm Section: Marco Thompson, Washington
Middle School Outstanding Performer: Sean Bowman (Alto-Clarinet), Eckstein
High School Vocalist: Nadia Jamrozik, Seattle Academy of Arts/Sciences
High School Vocal Ensemble, Seattle Academy of the Arts & Sciences
