Record Store Day ‘breaks records’, boosts Nirvana

The ever-growing vinyl craze pushed the Nirvana 7-inch, “Pennyroyal Tea,” to the top of the Billboard vinyl singles chart last week, thanks to Record Store Day (April 19). (See Gillian Gaar’s informative preview here.)

According to Rolling Stone, Record Store Day amped up vinyl sales 58% over last year and pushed overall sales 91% over the previous week, which, sadly, probably says more about how bad sales were before the Big Day. But hey, vinyl’s up! Start dropping those needles, and whatever you do…don’t scuff!
